My name is Robert Margetts and you may, or may not have an interest in learning more about Aireserv  (www.aireservfranchise.com ) We help independent HVAC companies grow. We are a franchise, part of the Dwyer Group www.dwyergroup.com  (Mr. Rooter, Mr. Electric, Mr. Appliance, The Grounds Guys, GlassDoctor,  Rainbow International, Aireserv) around 1,500 franchised units.

If you took a month off from your business, would your overall sales stay the same or decline?  Could your company survive without you?  Is your business built around you, or a system?

Are you tired of:

1.      Answering the phone while standing on a ladder in -5 degree weather?

2.      Having to price your services cheaper than your competitors just to get the job?

3.      Having your employee quit and start his own HVAC company?

4.      Never really taking a long quality vacation with the family?

5.      Cash flow problems?

6.    Finding new ways to grow your business?

Please give me a call if you want to know more about HVAC franchising.

Thank you

why join a franchise?

Dave Adams - Victoria, Texas

Taking the family business into the future wasn’t an easy task for Dave Adams. A technician for eight years, without any experience running a business, made Adams “miserable” in 2005 after he decided to purchase his dad’s HVAC business. His routine became hectic while working 15 hour days trying to keep up with customer calls, working on jobs, the finances and simply trying to operate the business.
Why did you invest in an Aire Serv franchise?
When I started I was a one truck operator and that’s part of why it was so miserable the first year. I was contacted on the phone by someone asking me if I would be interested in a franchise and I said sure, but in the back of my mind I was thinking there is no way. I listened as an Aire Serv representative explained the franchise to me and it sounded good. I asked my Dad if he would listen in but he told me it's not worth it, you’re wasting your money and you can't do it because we had an agreement not to change the company name. One of the main reasons I became interested wasn’t what they said they could do for me, but their code of values; you don’t see stuff like this all the time. It took nearly four months for me to make up my mind, but after a lot of prayer, my wife and I felt like it would be good to try. I was also able to transition into the Aire Serv name without losing the name of my father’s business.
What challenges did you face when you first started your Aire Serv franchise?
My main challenge on the business side was learning all the Aire Serv systems and implementing them correctly so that it would be the most beneficial to my business. On the personal side, I had a really hard time implementing the flat rate pricing just because I was scared of the reaction that I might get from customers. I used it once in a while, but started to realize I was getting less hassle from the customer when I was using the flat rate book rather than going to the van to determine a price. Customers love looking at the book and seeing the price right there in bold print. Their thinking is that it's the price for everybody and he's not just making it up.
What impact has the Aire Serv brand had on your business?
The impact has been greater than I originally thought. I was by myself when I started my Aire Serv franchise, but the first year I decaled the vans with Aire Serv, I hired a customer service representative/ office manager and a technician. That was the scariest thing to do - to take on two employees. I was told if I do it right and keep a close eye on my financial situation, I could afford them and by being in the office I would generate more work to offset the cost. We started wearing uniforms, went to the flat rate pricing and received business from other Dwyer Group concepts in my area by cross promoting each other.
What do you see in the future for your franchise?
Dave: I have set goals for 10 Aire Serv vehicles, a complete office staff and devoting 100 percent of my time to working on the business, not in the business.
How has your family been involved?
My family does not work in the business. My wife Julie stays home and takes care of my three beautiful girls Brooklyn, 7, Elizabeth, 6, and Kirsten, 4. Julie always keeps my spirits up when I don't have a good day and always corrects me when my words don't match up with what the whole reason on why we joined Aire Serv.
Any advice?
Don't prejudge the Aire Serv franchise from what you heard about other franchises. Find out for yourself. Listen to what the Aire Serv staff has to say, go visit them and see for yourself the type of people they are and how they run their corporate headquarters in Waco, Texas. This is what really helped me make up my mind to join. These guys are world class people and they are there to help you achieve your dreams.
